Kebbi Kidnapping More girls abducted in Nigeria. A disgraceful episode in Kebbi state, 26 Catholic school girls were abducted by radical, muslim terrorists. Nigeria has been plagued by events like this, and now Donald Trump has taken notice and is threatening action. And to be honest, I hope he does something, since the Nigerian government is clearly incapable.
| Decision for Kiev The Donald Trump administration unveiled a 28-point peace plan for the war in Ukraine. The plan leans heavily into Moscowâs demands, requiring Kyiv to reduce its military size, abandon its NATO membership bid, and concede key territories. The world is waiting to see if this means the end of the four-year war. |

MARKET MOVES
BUSINESS
Wallyâs World Opens in South AfricaâŚ

At last! Now I can go and buy cheap Chinese-made clothing and toys inside a big box store in Africa. No need to enter an open-air market, since now Walmart has officially opened a flagship store in South Africa.
The mega-retailer isnât just dipping a toe; itâs diving in headfirst, leveraging digital platforms, supply chain muscle, and deep pockets to woo millions from Lagos to Lusaka.
Local chains are scrambling to keep up as Walmart flexes low prices and global reach, while analysts say the move could reset Africaâs consumer market for years to come.
Competition is good, and when the big fish come swimming in your pond, please be prepared to move and shake!

Agriculture is a massive part of the African economy. It could also be the sector that pulls millions out of poverty and into a place of abundance and stability.
Kenya gets it. And they recently launched the Jobs Connect Compact, which hopes to create 6 million jobs by 2030. Ambitious, I know.
These âgreenâ jobs will help with the unemployment crisis and give youths and rural farmers avenues to increase efficiencies and make higher profits.
The Job Compact has major partners like Mastercard, Microsoft, and the World Bank that will help facilitate job training, opportunities, and projects.
We hear a lot about big, ambitious projects and promises like this, but it is rare to see them come to fruition with their bold promises.
Meanwhile, in West Africa, things are also heating up in the Agri-tech sector, with large investment monies flowing in from venture capitalists, but implementation is where things start to lag.
Everyone knows that agriculture has serious potential, but when the rubber meets the road, things tend to get slippery and unstable.
One problem is that Agriculture is not âsexyâ, especially for the youth. The younger generation typically gravitates towards tech, finance, and real estate.
Farming isnât glamorous, and itâs hard to look good on social media while digging holes or riding a tractor- right?
But if there is a way to make it sexy and lucrative, then things will change fast.
FINANCE
UAE / AI / AFRICA / $
Money talks and BS walks⌠and AI takes a lot of dough to run. The rulers from the UAE are well aware of this, and they recently made a massive pledge to fund certain AI initiatives in Africa.
This deal was struck or announced at the recent G20 Summit in South Africa. 1 billion dollars has been pegged to support and finance AI projects across the continent.
Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan said the âAI for Developmentâ program is all about turbocharging education, agriculture, and infrastructure using machine intelligence and learning.
If you have been reading our newsletter, you already know that we have been beating the ground for years, urging African nations to take AI seriously and to back dump trucks full of money to fund it, and even if they listen, it may be too late.
This funding from the UAE is great, but letâs wait to see what it actually funds and which nations benefit.
TECH

REMA in LAGOS
No, not Rema, the Afrobeats star, but the Real Estate Management in Africa (REMA) held an event that brought industry leaders in Real Estate, Tech, and policy makers together to talk about the future and how the two sectors can merge and create new opportunities.
The conference highlighted the importance of harnessing tech and innovative solutions to help alleviate the struggles with real estate and accommodations on the continent.
Leveraging tech and new methods of construction and urban planning will help with the rapid urbanization problem that plagues Africa.
Cities are overloaded, clogged, and crowded, and with already poor infrastructure and a lack of city planning, it is only getting worse.
But the power of tech and new ideas can hopefully change the narrative and the reality on the ground.
SMALL CHOP

Flacons > Eagles
Even though Nigeriaâs Super Eagles failed to qualify for the World Cup, the Womenâs team was recently crowned CAF Womenâs National Team of the Year at the 2025 CAF awards.
The award comes as recognition of the Super Falconsâ impressive performances over the past year after winning the Womenâs Africa Nations Cup WAFCON a record ten times following their 2-0 comeback to defeat hosts Morocco in the final.
DISH OF THE DAY
![]() Mutura ![]() | MUTURA
Mutura is an intestine-encased mixture of cow meat, tripe, spices, and blood, then grilled to perfection on hot coals. I enjoyed mine, even though the thought of intestines and blood did not initially make me excited. |
Did You Know? đ Africa owns 60% of the worldâs uncultivated farmland â yet still imports nearly $60 billion in food each year. Talk about untapped potential!
Till next time,
