Trump v XI
The two global top dogs met tail to nose in the United States with the backdrop being the UN General Assembly even. Trump and XI later met for a State dinner and the topics on their agenda ranged from the war in Iran, global trade deals, Taiwan and of course AI.
For anyone curious of what they actually eat at these dinners (we are), we found the menu items:
"The first course offers a refined and silky-smooth velouté made of sweet yellow squash," the menu states. "This course is gently blended to highlight its delicate seasonal flavors of earthy wild mushrooms, sautéed with fresh herbs.
Served next is a sesame crusted sea bass with braised bok choy, roasted garden eggplant and a French green herb sauce.
"The dessert course is a smooth vanilla crémeux with a vibrant sour cherry confit center, set a top a rich walnut frangipane," the menu says. "The dessert’s fruit shaped form is complimented by a delicate ice cream made with harvested White House honey."

🎶 2. Diamond Platnumz goes gospel-adjacent. The playlist just got interesting.
Tanzanian superstar Diamond Platnumz has teamed up with gospel artist Joel Lwaga on “Nikumbuke,” a prayer-focused collaboration produced by Kanibaah.
It's an intriguing pairing: Diamond's mainstream East African pop presence meeting Lwaga's gospel lane.
The crossover raises an interesting question about how artists can move between musical worlds—and how audiences respond when familiar stars take a more spiritual turn.
The Chop: Genre boundaries are looking less like walls and more like curtains. You can draw them, move them, or pull them aside when the collaboration makes sense.
👗 3. Lagos red carpets are not here to play.
The Star Lomo premiere brought Nigerian stars together under an African Music Icon theme—and the fashion brief gave guests plenty of room to show personality.
The looks drew on Nigerian music culture, with expressive silhouettes, bold styling, and references that went beyond the standard “wear something expensive and pose” formula.
The Chop: A good theme gives people something to work with. A great theme gives the internet something to argue about for three business days. Lagos understood the assignment.

Calling all snitches! The US State Department has launched an online portal where members of the public can report suspected visa fraud or misuse.
So those of you that are mad at your spouse or coworker can go to the portal and report them - please don’t do that.
The portal is separate from the systems used to check visa applications or report other types of immigration concerns.

Pasta Naija
Since we were in Naija to attend the massive screening of Black Market, we took the opportunity to hunt for street food and we scored big!
We found -Jollof Spaghetti (Pasta Naija) — A beloved late-night street hack where spaghetti is simmered directly in a rich, smoky reduction of blended plum tomatoes, fiery scotch bonnets (rodo), tatashe bell peppers, ginger, and aromatic curry leaf, topped with charred shredded smoked fish or diced suya beef. It hit the spot.

The Second World Black and African Festival of Arts and Culture, commonly known as FESTAC '77, was held in Lagos, Nigeria, in January and February 1977. It remains the most ambitious and celebrated pan-African cultural gathering in modern history, drawing luminaries like Stevie Wonder, Sun Ra, Miriam Makeba, and Gilberto Gil, and leaving behind Lagos's iconic National Theatre and Festac Town as lasting cultural monuments.
